Stitches
January 2016 - Southwest China
My photojournalism project "Stitches" is a visual exploration of the daily life of Li Sifen, a mother of the Yi People in the southwestern region of China. The short film takes viewers on a journey through a typical day in the life of Li Sifen, as she navigates the challenges of being a mother in a vibrant community of merchants with a deep connection to the unique land area of the Yuanyang rice terraces.
The film offers a stunning portrayal of the intricate beauty of the rice terraces, while also highlighting the daily struggles and triumphs of the Yi People as they work to maintain their way of life in the face of changing economic and environmental conditions.
Through vibrant visual storytelling, the film captures the essence of Li Sifen's life and the rich cultural heritage of the Yi People. From the bustling marketplaces to the serene beauty of the rice terraces, "Stitches" provides a touching and intimate glimpse into the daily lives of the people who call this region of China home.
